“As I have loved you so you must love one another, by this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”.
John 13 v 34-35
It’s this verse in the Bible that makes me feel so passionately about coming to Measham Baptist Church. Everyone has so much love for one another, rallying around each other in times of trouble, encouraging each other, sharing hospitality in each others homes. When someone has the opportunity to help anyone, they just do it. Jesus said, “Our love should not be just words and talk, it must be true love which shows itself in action”.
I also feel passionately about how I personally can serve our Lord Jesus Christ when I think about everything that he has done for me / us, taking on all of our sins at calvary so we can be reconciled with our Father in heaven. I feel I want to do something to please him. 1 Corinthians 6, v20 says, “God paid a great price for you, so use your body to honour him”. Galatians 6, v4 “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given and sink yourself into that”. Ephesians 5, v17 “Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to do”.
For me, I know my skills are found in cleaning the church, gardening and evangelising, and I do these tasks to the best of my ability. Imagine what it will feel like one day to have God say to you, “well done, my good and faithful servant”.
