A Right Royal Celebration

The 20th November saw the Queen and Prince Phillip celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary and to mark this milestone achievement we decided to have a celebration of our own marriages at Measham Baptist Church. The church was decorated from top to toe in wedding memorabilia kindly loaned by members and featured precious wedding dresses constructed from parachute silk as well as international wedding fashions. There were wedding albums, shoes and bridesmaids dresses. In fact the only thing notable by its absence was a traditional wedding cake! That is not to say that we went hungry. The service was followed by a not so traditional wedding banquet and finished with plenty of sweet treats.

We Will Remember Them

An early start was had on 12th November to enable everyone to walk to the Measham War Memorial and join with the community act of remembrance. This was very well attended and it was made extra poignant as the children were invited to plant steel poppies as a permanent feature in recognition of Centerary of World War I this year.
